Brian Dye began his career in law enforcement in 2003. Over the years some of his assignments have been in the Traffic Division, SWAT, Community Affairs, Downtown Enforcement Team and the Regional Gang Unit. He worked his way up the ranks to Lieutenant and is currently assigned to Patrol. In early 2021 he became the SWAT, Hostage Negotiator and Bomb Squad commander immediately after being promoted. He also spent over 4 years as the Police Supervisor Union Treasurer. During this time he negotiated three contracts with the city and numerous labor management and discipline issues.
Brian found his passion for Jiu Jitsu in 2010 and has been training/teaching multiple times per week since. After trying a few different gyms Brian connected with Jerry and Byron through the LEO program designed for first responders. As a blue belt he already understood the importance of training combatives for law enforcement. In small team and shift discussions he is known for telling his personnel the importance of training beyond statutory minimums because you never know what the day holds. He received his black belt in February of 2022 from his professors Jerry Hallert and Marcos Torregrosa. He is a co-owner of the Komainu Gym with founders Jerry and Byron.
